Glamping vs. Caravanning: Upgrade Your Outdoor Getaway

When it comes to enjoying a holiday in the great outdoors, there’s plenty of options to choose from when personalising your experience. If you are a current caravan owner or looking to buy, there are two distinct ways to experience the great outdoors: traditional caravanning or the more luxury option known as ‘glamping.’ Both offer unique and enjoyable experiences, but they cater to different preferences and levels of comfort.

What is glamping?

‘Glamping’ is a fusion of two words: ‘glamorous’ and ‘camping,’ combining the best of both worlds and providing the rustic charm of camping with the luxury of a high-end holidaying. Glamping accommodations vary widely, from safari tents and yurts to treehouses and cabins, each offering unique amenities and experiences.

Glamping isn't about roughing it; it's about indulging in the natural world while enjoying modern comforts. Glampers typically enjoy cosy beds, climate control, en-suite bathrooms, and even gourmet meals, all while being surrounded by the beauty of nature. For those who seek escapism and relaxation without sacrificing comfort, glamping is an excellent option.

The Caravanning Experience

Caravanning, on the other hand, is a more traditional and affordable way to enjoy the outdoors, allowing you to tow your pride and joy using your vehicle at your leisure. Once at your destination, this involves pitching up at a campsite where you can relish the simplicity of this form of travel. Caravanning gives owners the freedom to explore a wide range of destinations, from remote wilderness to busy urban areas.

Most caravans, especially if yours is a relatively new model, already have everything you could ever need in terms of living amenities. However, if you're a dedicated caravanner and are looking for a more luxury experience but don’t want to book a glamping site without your caravan, there are several ways you can switch up your caravanning experience…

What to take glamping?

1. Outdoor accessories: Consider investing in accessories like awnings, outdoor furniture or a portable barbecue to enhance your outdoor experience. These additions can create a cosy and functional outdoor living space, where you can host guests and enjoy those sunny evenings with all the family.

2. Personal touches: Bring personal items such as your favourite bedding, cookware, framed photographs and decorations to make your caravan feel more like home. Personal touches can hugely transform a caravan into a more inviting and comfortable space.

3. Kitchen utilities: A well-equipped kitchen can help you meet your culinary needs, all whilst saving valuable time. If you love cooking while on the road, why not invest in high-quality kitchen equipment to make meal preparation as convenient as possible, for example collapsible pots and pans, or a spice rack to display all the staple ingredients. You may even want to revamp the kitchen design completely, thinking about the key utilities including drawer space and innovation functionalities such as a dual sink/chopping board.

4. Bathroom upgrades: Most caravans have modern bathrooms, but you may find that you’re looking to save space or make life easier. Make your bathroom routine run more smoothly by installing a shower caddy to store beauty products. You could even buy a wall mounted toothbrush holder which sticks easily to the wall or vanity cabinet.

5. Storage solutions: Caravan organisation is key. Storage solutions are a great way to maximise space and keep everything in its place. Ideas such as wall hangers for coats or hats, packing cubes for clothing, or even containers to store things like cleaning products or long life food are great ways to keep everything in order.
